August  •  Day 16

Don’t Wait for a Crisis

Day 228 of 365  •  FITNESS

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

Proverbs 27:12 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

Most people don’t make significant changes until pain forces them to. But wisdom listens before pain has to shout.

A friend who had recently gone through a serious health scare told me, “Billy, I spent years planning for retirement and almost no time planning to be healthy enough to enjoy it.”

Perhaps wisdom means making small changes before circumstances demand drastic ones.

Jesus in Action

Jesus often spoke about living with wisdom and preparation. Prepared people live with peace.

Forged Wisdom

Musonius Rufus wrote: “The wise man prepares for difficulties before they arrive.” Prevention is almost always easier than recovery.

The No Limits Challenge

Don’t wait for a crisis. Make one healthy decision today.

Prayer

Father, help me live with wisdom and gratitude. Teach me to make decisions today that will allow me to enjoy the blessings You’ve prepared for tomorrow. Amen.
