Don’t Neglect Your Family

Years ago, I remember sitting with a businessman who had achieved what many people would call success. But somewhere in our conversation, he said something that has stayed with me ever since. “Billy, I spent so much time trying to give my family a better life that I forgot to actually live life with them.”

The older I get, the more convinced I become that our greatest investments aren’t always financial. Sometimes they’re conversations. Sometimes they’re memories. Sometimes they’re ordinary evenings around the dinner table.

Solomon understood something many of us spend years discovering. Peace inside the home is worth more than abundance outside of it.

One of the things I love about Jesus is that despite the demands constantly placed upon Him, He never lost sight of people. He made time for children. He made time for friends. He stopped for interruptions.

Seneca wrote: “No man was ever wise by chance.” Strong families don’t happen by accident. Like everything else that matters, they are built intentionally.
