Proverb Truth
When I was younger, I used to read this verse and immediately think about money. And while I still believe those things matter, life has expanded my understanding of what inheritance really means.
I’ve met people who inherited very little financially and yet received something far more valuable. They inherited faith. Integrity. A strong work ethic. A love for family. A good name.
The older I get, the less interested I become in leaving behind things and the more interested I become in leaving behind values. Because markets rise and fall. But character echoes through generations.
Jesus in Action
Jesus left behind no earthly fortune. No buildings. No investments. And yet two thousand years later, His life continues to shape history. Because love outlives possessions.
Forged Wisdom
Seneca wrote: “The greatest wealth is a poverty of desires.” Perhaps the greatest inheritance we can leave behind isn’t abundance. It’s virtue. It’s faith. It’s a life worth remembering.
The No Limits Challenge
Ask yourself: “If my children remembered only one thing about me, what would I hope it would be?” Then begin living toward that answer.
Prayer
Father, help me leave behind more than possessions. Help me leave behind faith, integrity, wisdom, and love. May my legacy be measured by faithfulness rather than fame. Amen.
