A Cheerful Giver

I remember watching an older couple in church years ago. They weren’t wealthy. But there was something beautiful about the way they lived. Giving never seemed to feel like an obligation to them. It felt like worship.

Because I’ve met people who gave reluctantly and people who gave joyfully, and I’ve learned that the size of the gift matters far less than the condition of the heart.

Maybe that’s because generosity reminds us that everything we have ultimately comes from God. And when we truly understand grace, giving stops feeling like a sacrifice and starts feeling like a privilege.

Jesus praised a widow whose offering was almost invisible in the eyes of others. But heaven saw something different. God wasn’t measuring dollars. He was looking at trust.

Seneca believed that goodness enlarges the soul of the giver as much as it blesses the receiver.
