April • Day 11
The Gift of Laughter
Day 101 of 365 • FAMILY
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
— Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)
Proverb Truth
Some of my favorite memories aren’t the big milestones. They’re the ordinary moments. The stories around the dinner table. The inside jokes. The vacations that didn’t go according to plan.
The older I get, the more I appreciate laughter. Not because life is always easy. But because joy reminds us that life is still a gift. Families that laugh together tend to survive difficult seasons better. Because laughter creates memories. And memories create bonds. And bonds carry us through storms.
Jesus in Action
People were drawn to Jesus. Children ran toward Him. Crowds followed Him. I have a hard time believing people were attracted to someone who never smiled. Joy has always been attractive.
Forged Wisdom
Musonius Rufus taught that virtue should make life richer, not heavier. And perhaps holy people should be joyful people.
The No Limits Challenge
Create a memory with your family this week.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of joy. Help me not to take life so seriously that I forget to laugh and celebrate the blessings You’ve given me. Amen.
