Love Isn’t Keeping Score

I once heard someone say that marriages don’t struggle because people forget the big things. They struggle because they remember the little things. Unspoken frustrations. Old disappointments. Tiny offenses carefully filed away for future arguments.

After a while, relationships become less about love and more about accounting. But love was never meant to be a scoreboard. Because scorekeepers rarely experience joy. They experience resentment.

I’ve discovered that healthy relationships are filled with people who have learned to let some things go. Not because they don’t matter. But because love matters more.

I’m grateful that Jesus doesn’t keep score with me. If He did, I’d have no hope. Instead, He offers mercy that’s new every morning.
