Strength Under Control

Proverb Truth
When I was younger, I thought gentleness was weakness. Now I think the opposite is true. Anyone can lose their temper. Anyone can raise their voice. Anyone can demand their own way.
But it takes real strength to remain calm when emotions are high. It takes maturity to respond with grace when anger feels justified. And it takes wisdom to recognize that winning the argument isn’t always the same thing as winning the relationship.
The older I get, the more convinced I become that gentleness is one of the strongest qualities a man can possess. Not because it’s passive. But because it’s controlled.
Jesus in Action
Jesus possessed unlimited power, yet His strength was clothed in humility.
Children felt safe around Him. Broken people were drawn to Him. And even His correction was marked by love. His power never intimidated. It healed.
Forged Wisdom
Epictetus wrote: “Who is strong? The man who can master himself.”
Perhaps that’s what true masculinity has always looked like.

Respond gently in one difficult conversation this week.
Prayer
Father, make me a man whose strength is marked by humility and grace. Teach me to reflect the gentleness of Christ in the way I speak and the way I love. Amen.
