March  •  Day 17

Don’t Borrow Trouble

Day 76 of 365  •  FOCUS

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

Proverbs 27:1 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent a lot of time worrying about things that never happened.

Conversations that went better than I expected. Problems that solved themselves. Fears that existed only in my imagination.

And looking back, I realize how much energy I wasted carrying tomorrow before tomorrow ever arrived.

Maybe that’s why Jesus spoke so often about anxiety. Not because He wanted us to ignore reality, but because He knew how easy it is for our minds to live in places our feet have never been.

The truth is, tomorrow has enough challenges of its own. And today deserves our attention.

I’ve discovered that peace often returns when I stop trying to solve problems that haven’t shown up yet.

Jesus in Action

Jesus continually brought people back to the present.

He reminded His followers that the Father knows what they need and that worry has never added a single hour to anyone’s life.

His invitation wasn’t to ignore tomorrow. It was to trust the One who already lives there.

Forged Wisdom

Epictetus taught: “Do not seek for events to happen as you wish, but wish them to happen as they do happen.”

Peace grows when trust replaces fear.

The No Limits Challenge

When anxious thoughts arise today, ask yourself: “Has this actually happened yet?”

Prayer

Father, help me stop carrying burdens that belong to tomorrow. Teach me to trust You one day at a time and rest in Your care. Amen.
