The Legacy of Presence

Proverb Truth
As I look back over the years, I don’t remember every conversation. I don’t remember every gift. I don’t remember every accomplishment. But I do remember who showed up.
The friends who stood beside me. The family members who stayed. The people who walked through difficult seasons with me.
Presence. That’s what I remember. And perhaps that’s because presence is one of the purest forms of love.
And perhaps one day, the people we love won’t remember every word we said. But they’ll remember whether we showed up.
Jesus in Action
Emmanuel means, “God with us.” Not God above us. Not God distant from us. God with us. And perhaps presence has always been one of His greatest gifts.
Forged Wisdom
Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Men exist for the sake of one another.” And perhaps one of the greatest ways we serve one another is simply by being present.

Prayer
Father, help me love people through presence. Teach me to be available, attentive, and faithful. Amen.
