Life Goes Faster Than You Think

I don’t know exactly when it happened. But somewhere along the way, years began moving faster. Birthdays arrived sooner. Children grew up. Friends grew older. Parents became grandparents.

And honestly, I think that realization is both sobering and beautiful. Sobering because life is short. Beautiful because life is precious.

Because once we understand that time is limited, we begin to appreciate things differently. We become slower to hold grudges. Quicker to forgive. More intentional with relationships. More grateful for ordinary days.

Because time is a gift. And gifts are meant to be treasured.

Jesus lived with purpose, but never with panic. He understood the value of time. And He used it to love.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.” Strong words. But perhaps remembering life’s brevity teaches us how to live.
