The Ministry of Showing Up

When I was younger, I thought helping people meant having answers. Fixing problems. Offering solutions. But life has taught me something much simpler. Sometimes people don’t need answers. They need presence.

I’ve stood beside hospital beds. I’ve attended funerals. I’ve sat with friends going through difficult seasons. And I’ve learned that presence often speaks louder than words.

Because love doesn’t always explain. Sometimes love simply remains. And perhaps one of the holiest ministries in the world is just showing up.

Jesus wept with Mary and Martha. He didn’t rush to explain. He entered their grief. Because compassion often begins with presence.

Seneca wrote: “Associate with people who are likely to improve you.” And perhaps one way we improve others is simply by walking beside them.
