Thank You, Lord

As we come to the close of November, I find myself with fewer words than usual. Not because there isn’t anything left to say. But because gratitude eventually moves beyond explanation. It becomes worship.

Looking back over this year, I don’t see perfection. I see grace. I see answered prayers. I see closed doors that protected me. I see people who loved me. I see friendships. Family. Laughter. Lessons. And I see a God who has been far kinder to me than I deserve.

As I grow older, I find myself praying simpler prayers. Less: “Lord, give me more.” And more: “Lord, thank You.”

Thank You for the journey. Thank You for the people. Thank You for the memories. Thank You for the lessons. Thank You for the hardships that shaped me. Thank You for the blessings I recognized. And thank You for the thousands I missed.

Because when I look back over my life, I can honestly say this: God has been good. Not just sometimes. Not just during the victories. But all along.

Ten lepers were healed. Only one returned to say thank you. And Jesus noticed. Because gratitude matters. It always has. And it always will.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “When you have arisen in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” And perhaps that is gratitude in its purest form.
