The Older I Get, the More I Appreciate Simplicity

I’ve noticed something changing in me over the years. Things that once seemed important don’t seem nearly as important anymore. And things I once overlooked have become precious.

Peace. Quiet. Conversations. Time with family. Morning coffee. Walks with my wife. Good health. Old friends. Laughter. Simple things.

Perhaps that’s because age has a way of removing illusions. It teaches us that life doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful.

And honestly, I’ve come to believe simplicity is underrated. Because simplicity creates margin. Margin creates peace. And peace creates joy.

Jesus lived simply. Not because He lacked greatness. But because simplicity protected what mattered most. People. Relationships. His walk with the Father.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “The art of living is more like wrestling than dancing.” And perhaps one of the ways we wrestle well is by refusing to complicate what God intended to be simple.
