Thankful People Shine

I’ve noticed something over the years. Thankful people are attractive. Not physically. Spiritually. Emotionally. Relationally.

There’s something beautiful about being around people who appreciate life. People who smile easily. People who celebrate others. People who are quick to encourage and slow to complain.

I’ve met wealthy people who seemed miserable. And I’ve met people with very little who radiated joy. Because joy doesn’t come from possessions. It comes from perspective.

And perhaps that’s why grateful people seem younger. Lighter. Freer. Because gratitude lifts the soul.

And honestly, I want to become that kind of man. The kind whose presence brings encouragement. Not because life has always been easy. But because God has always been good.

People were drawn to Jesus. Children ran to Him. Crowds followed Him. Friends loved Him. And I have a hard time imagining that life wasn’t marked by joy.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” How true. Because thankful thoughts produce joyful hearts.
