November  •  Day 14

Enjoy the Gift

Day 318 of 365  •  FAITH

Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

For many years, I thought enjoyment was something that happened after the work was finished. After the goals were accomplished. After retirement. After someday.

But life has taught me that someday has a habit of remaining just over the horizon. And if we’re not careful, we spend so much time preparing to live that we forget to actually live.

Somewhere along the journey, God gently began teaching me that life itself is the gift. Not just the destination. The journey. The laughter. The meals. The ordinary evenings. The conversations. The memories we don’t realize we’re making.

Because one day, these ordinary days become the good old days. And perhaps gratitude allows us to enjoy them while we’re still living them.

Jesus in Action

Jesus attended weddings. Shared meals. Celebrated with friends. And through His example, He showed us that joy is not something to feel guilty about. It is something to receive with gratitude.

Forged Wisdom

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now take what’s left and live it properly.” Those words remind me that every day is a gift. And gifts are meant to be enjoyed.

The No Limits Challenge

Enjoy something today without rushing through it.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I’ve postponed joy. Help me embrace the gifts You’ve placed before me and teach me to enjoy life with gratitude and wonder. Amen.
