October  •  Day 19

Learn to Enjoy What You Have

Day 292 of 365  •  FINANCES

Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.

Ecclesiastes 5:19 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

One of the saddest things I’ve observed is that some people never learn how to enjoy their blessings. They’re always chasing the next thing.

I’ve been guilty of that. Thinking joy would arrive after the next accomplishment. But life has taught me that enjoyment is a skill. Gratitude is a discipline. And contentment is learned.

I’ve discovered that some of the happiest moments in life are wonderfully simple. Coffee on the porch. Conversations with friends. Vacations with family. Ordinary evenings at home. Watching a sunset. Laughing until your sides hurt.

And perhaps God delights when His children enjoy the gifts He has graciously provided. After all, gratitude honors the Giver.

Jesus in Action

Jesus celebrated. He attended weddings. He enjoyed meals. He embraced life. And perhaps joy is one of God’s favorite languages.

Forged Wisdom

Epictetus wrote: “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not.” Those words become wiser every year.

The No Limits Challenge

Slow down enough to enjoy something you’ve been overlooking.

Prayer

Father, teach me to enjoy the blessings You’ve given me. Help me resist endless striving and cultivate a grateful heart. Amen.
