Success Without Peace Is Too Expensive

I’ve had enough conversations over the years to know that success can come with a price tag. And sometimes that price is too high.

I’ve watched men build impressive careers while losing their health. I’ve seen businesses flourish while marriages quietly struggled. I’ve known people who accumulated wealth yet carried enormous anxiety.

And if I’m honest, there have been seasons where I had to ask myself an uncomfortable question: “What am I sacrificing to achieve this?”

Because not every opportunity is worth taking. Not every dollar is worth earning. And not every promotion is worth the cost.

Age has taught me that peace is expensive too. But unlike success, peace is always worth the price. Because a peaceful heart makes life enjoyable. And a restless heart can make abundance feel empty.

Jesus lived with perfect peace because His identity rested in His Father, not His accomplishments. And perhaps ours should too.

Epictetus wrote: “No man is free who is not master of himself.” And perhaps peace begins with learning what truly matters.
