Leave Margin

I’ve learned over the years that margin is one of life’s greatest luxuries. Not extravagance. Margin. Room to breathe. Room to rest. Room to give. Room to help others. Room to enjoy life.

And if I’m honest, there were seasons when I lived without much margin. Every dollar had a purpose. Every minute was spoken for.

I’ve discovered that margin creates peace. Not because it removes uncertainty. But because it gives us space to respond with wisdom instead of panic.

Perhaps that’s one reason God continually calls us to prudence. Because frantic living rarely produces peaceful hearts.

Jesus lived with remarkable margin. Despite endless demands, He never seemed hurried. And because He wasn’t rushed, He was always available for people.

Epictetus wrote: “Freedom is secured by little things, one step at a time.” Perhaps margin is one of those little things.
