The Best Things Aren’t Things

Proverb Truth
One of the beautiful things about growing older is that your definition of wealth begins to change. At least mine has.
These days, I find myself appreciating things that never show up on balance sheets. A peaceful home. An unhurried dinner with family. Good health. Old friends. A walk with my wife. The laughter of grandchildren. The ability to sleep peacefully at night.
And perhaps that’s because the best things in life aren’t things. They’re experiences. Relationships. Memories. Moments.
I’ve discovered that many of life’s greatest treasures don’t cost anything. And perhaps that’s because God wanted the richest blessings to be available to everyone.
Jesus in Action
Jesus constantly pointed people toward treasures that moth and rust could never destroy. Because He knew that eternal things are always the most valuable things.
Forged Wisdom
Epictetus wrote: “Know that you are rich when you no longer need more.” The older I get, the more I believe he was right.
The No Limits Challenge
Take inventory of the riches money cannot buy.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the treasures You’ve already placed in my life. Help me recognize them, appreciate them, and never take them for granted. Amen.
