The Richest Investment

When I was younger, I thought investments were measured by returns. Stocks. Real estate. Businesses. And while those things certainly matter, life has taught me that some investments produce dividends that never show up on a spreadsheet.

Investing in people. Helping someone in need. Supporting ministries. Encouraging a young person. Mentoring. Giving. Serving.

I’ve discovered that those investments have a way of multiplying far beyond what we can see. Because God has always been in the business of using ordinary acts of generosity to accomplish extraordinary things.

Looking back, some of the most satisfying moments of my life weren’t moments when I made money. They were moments when I made a difference. Because deep down, I think every man wants his life to matter. And perhaps significance has always been more rewarding than success.

Jesus invested in people. And because He did, eternity itself was changed. Perhaps people have always been heaven’s favorite investment.

Epictetus wrote: “Only the educated are free.” And perhaps one of the greatest educations in life is learning that significance will always outlast success.
