July  •  Day 10

Be Present

Day 191 of 365  •  BALANCE

The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

Proverbs 17:24 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

I think one of the greatest struggles of modern life is that we’re physically present but mentally absent. We’re sitting at the dinner table while thinking about tomorrow’s meeting. We’re on vacation while checking emails.

Some of life’s greatest moments aren’t found in extraordinary experiences. They’re found in ordinary moments that receive our full attention.

Presence is one of the greatest gifts we can give another person. Because love is rarely complicated. Most of the time, love simply shows up.

Jesus in Action

One thing that has always amazed me about Jesus is that He never seemed rushed. He always seemed fully present. And because He was present, people felt seen.

Forged Wisdom

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Confine yourself to the present.” This moment is the only one we’re guaranteed.

The No Limits Challenge

Put your phone away for an hour tonight. Give someone your undivided attention.

Prayer

Father, teach me to slow down and be fully present. Help me notice the people and moments You’ve placed before me. Amen.
