Become the Brother Others Need

Years ago, someone asked me a question that has stayed with me. “What if everyone was the kind of friend you are?”

It’s easy to talk about wanting better friendships. It’s harder to ask whether we’re becoming better friends ourselves.

Because brotherhood isn’t built by waiting for someone else to take the first step. It’s built by becoming the man you hope to find.

Jesus loved first. Served first. Forgave first. Love always initiates.

Epictetus wrote: “First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” Character always precedes influence.
