What Really Matters

I’ve stood beside enough hospital beds and attended enough funerals to know something with certainty. Life moves quickly. And when life becomes fragile, people don’t usually talk about their trophies. They talk about people. They talk about memories. They talk about love.

Faith. Family. Friendships. Purpose. Love. Those things remain. Everything else eventually fades.

Perhaps that’s why Solomon reminds us that a life centered on God leads to satisfaction. Because peace doesn’t come from having everything. It comes from knowing the One who holds everything.

Jesus lived with remarkable clarity. He never confused temporary things with eternal ones. And because He knew what mattered most, He lived with extraordinary peace.

Seneca wrote: “Life is long if you know how to use it.” And perhaps using it well means investing it in what lasts forever.
