Strong and Gentle

When I was younger, I thought strength and gentleness were opposites. I assumed that strong men were hard men. Life has taught me otherwise.

Some of the strongest men I’ve known were also the gentlest. They listened more than they spoke. They didn’t need to dominate every conversation. They didn’t confuse anger with authority. And perhaps that’s because real strength doesn’t need to announce itself. It doesn’t intimidate. It protects.

I’ve learned that children feel safest around gentle fathers. Marriages flourish when husbands speak with kindness. And homes become places of peace when strength is clothed in humility.

Children ran toward Jesus, not away from Him. Broken people trusted Him. Sinners sat at His table. And somehow, the strongest man who ever lived was also the gentlest. That’s not weakness. That’s strength under control.
