Speak Life
Day 95 of 365 • FAMILY
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
— Proverbs 18:21 (ESV)
Proverb Truth
Words are funny that way. Once they leave our mouths, we can’t call them back. Most of us can remember hurtful things that were said years ago. What’s amazing is that we can often remember encouraging words just as clearly. Because words matter.
The older I get, the more I realize that homes are shaped by conversations. Not perfect conversations, but consistent ones. Children begin to believe what they hear repeatedly. Spouses are strengthened by appreciation. Friendships grow through honest words spoken in love.
I’ve learned that speaking life doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It means choosing words that heal rather than harm. Because people flourish where grace and truth live together.
Jesus in Action
Jesus spoke words that restored broken people. He corrected when necessary, but even His truth was wrapped in love. People felt seen in His presence because they knew His words came from His heart.
Forged Wisdom
Musonius Rufus believed that speech should reflect virtue. Wise words reveal a healthy soul.
The No Limits Challenge
Look for opportunities to express gratitude instead of criticism.
Prayer
Father, guard my tongue. Help me speak words that heal, encourage, and reflect Your heart. Let my home be filled with conversations that bring life. Amen.
