Love Looks Like Service

Proverb Truth
When I was a younger man, I thought leadership was mostly about responsibility. I thought it meant providing, making decisions, and carrying the weight of the family. And while those things matter, I’ve discovered that Jesus defines greatness very differently than we do. He talks about serving.
The longer I’ve been around marriage and family, the more convinced I’ve become that love is much less about feelings than I once imagined. Love is choosing to stay when life becomes difficult. Love is washing dishes when nobody notices. Love is apologizing first. Love is sacrificing quietly. Love is showing up again tomorrow.
And over time, those small acts that seem so ordinary begin to create something beautiful. Because families are rarely shaped by one big moment. They’re shaped by thousands of little moments stitched together by grace.
Jesus in Action
On the night before the cross, Jesus wrapped a towel around His waist and knelt to wash the feet of His disciples. The King of Kings, kneeling. The Creator, serving. And in that moment, Jesus forever changed the meaning of greatness.
Forged Wisdom
Musonius Rufus believed that love and virtue are revealed by actions more than words. And perhaps that’s because the people closest to us don’t need impressive speeches. They simply need faithful hearts.

Prayer
Father, teach me to love the way Jesus loved. Help me become a servant-hearted man whose family experiences Your kindness through the way I lead, forgive, and serve. Amen.
