Stay in Your Lane

Comparison has a funny way of making us forget who we are.

We start looking sideways instead of forward. Someone else’s success makes us question our own path. Someone else’s gifts make us wonder if we’re enough. Someone else’s life starts looking better than the one God has given us.

And before we know it, we’re chasing things we were never called to pursue.

I’ve discovered that one of the quickest ways to lose joy is to spend too much time measuring your life against someone else’s.

God has never asked us to become another man. He simply asks us to faithfully become the man He created us to be.

That sounds obvious, but it’s harder than we think. Because comparison whispers that we’re behind. Grace reminds us that we’re becoming. And those are two very different messages.

Jesus never tried to be anyone other than who the Father called Him to be. He wasn’t distracted by popularity, criticism, or the expectations of the crowd.

His life was anchored in purpose. And because of that, He remained steady.

Epictetus taught: “Never depend upon the admiration of others.”

Peace arrives when we stop trying to live someone else’s life.
