Be Present

Proverb Truth
One of the saddest things in life is being physically present while mentally absent.
I’ve done that more times than I’d like to admit. Sitting at dinner while thinking about work. Talking with family while checking emails. Praying while mentally making tomorrow’s to-do list.
And somewhere along the way, we begin missing the people and moments God has placed right in front of us.
The truth is, life is happening now. Not next year. Not when everything slows down. Not after we retire. Now.
And if we’re always chasing tomorrow, we’ll miss the gifts God has wrapped inside today.
Jesus in Action
Jesus gave people His attention.
Children. Beggars. Fishermen. Widows. He never treated people like interruptions. He treated them like they mattered. And maybe that’s because they did.
Forged Wisdom
Epictetus observed: “Make the best use of what is in your power.”
And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give someone is our attention.

Put away distractions and give someone your full attention today.
Prayer
Father, teach me to be present. Help me slow down and recognize the people and moments You’ve entrusted to me. Amen.
