Do the Next Right Thing

There have been seasons in my life when I wanted God to show me the entire roadmap.

I wanted answers. I wanted clarity. I wanted to know exactly how everything was going to turn out. Instead, God often seemed to say, “Just take the next step.” Looking back, I’ve realized that most of life is lived that way.

Rarely do we get to see the whole picture. We simply do the next right thing.

We pray. We work. We love our families. We keep our commitments.

And little by little, God unfolds the path ahead.

Solomon reminds us that we aren’t responsible for controlling outcomes. We’re responsible for faithfulness. God handles the results.

Jesus lived one day at a time, perfectly submitted to the Father’s will.

He wasn’t anxious about tomorrow because He trusted the One who already held tomorrow.

Seneca wrote: “True happiness is to enjoy the present without anxious dependence upon the future.”

Faithfulness today is enough.
