Looking Back with Gratitude

I’ve noticed something about getting older. Perspective changes. When I was younger, I judged seasons too quickly. I labeled disappointments as failures. Detours as mistakes. Closed doors as losses.

But time has a remarkable way of revealing what trust could not see. Looking back now, I can see blessings hidden inside disappointments. Friendships born from unexpected circumstances. Lessons learned through hardships. Doors God closed to protect me from paths I never should have taken.

I’ve come to believe that some of the greatest blessings in my life arrived disguised as unanswered prayers. And honestly, I’m thankful God loved me enough to say no when I couldn’t understand why. Because His wisdom has always been greater than mine.

Jesus trusted His Father completely, even when the path before Him involved suffering. And because He trusted, redemption emerged from what appeared to be tragedy.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Receive without pride, let go without attachment.” And perhaps gratitude grows when we trust God’s timing.
