The Older I Get, the More I Worship

When I was younger, worship often felt like something I did on Sundays. A service. A routine. A part of church life. But age has changed that.

Because the older I get, the more I find worship happening in unexpected places. Early mornings. Long walks. Quiet drives. Conversations with friends. Watching grandchildren laugh. Holding my wife’s hand. Looking at a sunset. Remembering prayers God answered years ago.

Because worship isn’t simply singing. It’s gratitude expressed. It’s the soul saying, “Lord, thank You.”

And perhaps age naturally produces worship because perspective reveals what youth often overlooks. God has been faithful. Far more faithful than I realized.

Jesus continually lived with gratitude toward His Father. And perhaps worship has always been the natural response to recognizing God’s goodness.

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Live each day as if it were your last, without frenzy, without apathy, without pretense.” And perhaps living that way naturally leads to worship.
