“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him...”
— Proverbs 6:16–19 (ESV)
Proverb Truth
A few years ago, I noticed a small stain on the ceiling in our house.
It wasn’t much. Easy to ignore. I told myself I’d deal with it later.
Weeks passed. Then months.
Eventually, what started as a small stain turned into a much bigger problem because the issue wasn’t really the stain. The issue was the leak above it.
Life works the same way.
Most of us spend our time treating symptoms while ignoring causes. We deal with anger but never address pride. We fight anxiety while refusing to surrender control. We try to manage consequences while avoiding the deeper issues that created them.
Solomon lists attitudes and behaviors God hates because He understands something we often forget. Sin always destroys what it touches.
Not because God is trying to ruin our fun, but because He loves us enough to warn us about what will eventually hurt us.
Anything that separates us from God and damages the people around us deserves to be taken seriously.
Jesus in Action
Jesus never treated sin lightly, but He also never treated sinners without compassion.
He confronted what was destructive while extending grace to those who were broken.
Truth and mercy always walked together.
Forged Wisdom
Marcus Aurelius wrote, “The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.”
What we tolerate eventually shapes us.
The No Limits Challenge
Ask God to reveal one area of compromise you’ve been excusing. Then take one step toward addressing it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me enough to confront the things that are harmful to my soul. Give me the courage to deal honestly with anything that is pulling me away from You. Amen.
