Locked In

Have you ever arrived somewhere and realized you don’t remember the last few miles of the drive?

You got there, but your mind was somewhere else.

Life can feel that way.

Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months. Responsibilities pile up, and before we know it, we’re busy but not necessarily focused.

Solomon understood that not everything demanding our attention deserves our attention.

Sometimes we lose our way not because we’re rebellious, but because we’re distracted.

And distractions rarely announce themselves as enemies. They usually show up disguised as opportunities, harmless habits, or endless noise.

Purpose requires focus.

And focus requires intentionality.

Jesus never seemed hurried. Crowds didn’t distract Him. Critics didn’t derail Him. Popularity didn’t change Him.

He knew why He had come.

And because He knew His purpose, He wasn’t controlled by everything happening around Him.

Marcus Aurelius observed, “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Men with purpose don’t wait for perfect conditions. They simply keep moving forward.
