Better Than Gold

I don’t know anyone who would complain about having a little extra money.

There’s nothing wrong with success. There’s nothing wrong with working hard, providing for your family, and enjoying the blessings God gives. But if you’ve lived long enough, you’ve probably discovered that money solves some problems while creating others.

I’ve known wealthy people who were miserable. I’ve known successful people whose relationships were falling apart. And I’ve known ordinary people with very little who possessed a peace and wisdom that money could never buy.

Solomon had experienced both wealth and wisdom, and his conclusion might surprise us. He said wisdom is better.

Not because money has no value, but because wisdom helps us manage everything else.

Money can be lost. Possessions come and go. But wisdom stays with us. It guides us through difficult seasons and helps us avoid regrets that no amount of money can erase.

Jesus never chased wealth, yet He possessed something far greater. He offered truth, peace, and eternal hope to everyone who came to Him.

His priorities remind us that life consists of more than what we accumulate.

Seneca wrote: “It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”

Contentment and wisdom will always outlast possessions.
