Guard Your Circle
Day 13 of 365 • FAITH
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
— Proverbs 13:20 (ESV)
Proverb Truth
My father used to tell me, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.”
At the time, I thought he was exaggerating. Now I think he was right.
The people around us shape us more than we realize. Their attitudes affect ours. Their priorities influence ours. Their habits slowly become familiar to us.
That’s why Solomon reminds us to pay attention to who we walk with. Not because we are better than anyone else, but because influence works quietly.
Spend enough time around grateful people, and gratitude becomes contagious. Spend enough time around people who constantly complain, and eventually negativity starts sounding normal. The older I get, the more I realize that life is too short to surround myself with people who pull me away from the man God is calling me to become.
Healthy friendships don’t just make life more enjoyable. They make us better.
Jesus in Action
Jesus loved everyone, but He invested deeply in a few. He spent countless hours with His disciples, teaching them, encouraging them, and preparing them for what lay ahead. He understood that transformation often happens in relationships. And the men He poured into would eventually change the world.
Forged Wisdom
Seneca once wrote: “Associate with people who are likely to improve you.”
Wisdom has always understood the power of relationships.
The No Limits Challenge
Take an honest look at the people influencing your life. Who encourages your faith? Who challenges you to grow? Spend more time with those people.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life. Give me wisdom to choose relationships that draw me closer to You and help me become the kind of friend who encourages others to grow as well. Amen.
