Slow Down and Listen

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that listening is harder than talking. I’ve missed a lot by preparing my response before the other person finished speaking.

People don’t always need solutions. Sometimes they simply need understanding. Sometimes they just want to know they matter.

Perhaps one of the purest forms of love is listening. Not interrupting. Not fixing. Just listening.

Jesus asked questions. He listened. He drew people out. And because He listened, people felt seen and understood.

Seneca wrote: “Nature gave us one tongue and two ears so we could hear twice as much as we speak.”
