Build Traditions
Day 117 of 365 • FAMILY
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
Proverb Truth
Some of the things I remember most from childhood weren’t expensive. They weren’t elaborate vacations or grand celebrations. They were traditions. Family dinners. Holiday routines. Saturday mornings. Prayers before meals. Inside jokes.
Little things that didn’t seem particularly important at the time. But years later, I realize those ordinary rhythms became anchors. They created memories. They created identity. And perhaps most importantly, they created a sense of belonging.
Jesus in Action
Jesus participated in the traditions of His family and community. He celebrated feasts, attended gatherings, and worshiped regularly. He understood that rhythms help shape hearts.
Forged Wisdom
Musonius Rufus believed that virtue grows through daily practices. And perhaps families are strengthened the same way. One ordinary tradition at a time.
The No Limits Challenge
Start one family tradition this year. Keep it simple.
Prayer
Father, help me create memories that point my family toward love, joy, and gratitude. Teach me to value the ordinary moments that become treasured memories. Amen.
