February  •  Day 8

What Are You Feeding?

Day 39 of 365  •  FORMATION

The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.

Proverbs 15:14 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

Years ago, someone told me, “Whatever you feed grows.”

I’ve found that to be true. Feed bitterness, and bitterness grows. Feed gratitude, and gratitude grows. Feed fear, and fear grows. Feed faith, and faith grows. The question isn’t whether something is shaping us. The question is what. Our minds and hearts are always consuming something. Books. Television. Social media. Conversations. The people around us.

Eventually, what we consistently feed on begins to shape the way we think. And the way we think shapes the way we live.

Jesus in Action

Jesus continually filled His mind with the truth of Scripture. God’s Word was His anchor.

And it can be ours as well.

Forged Wisdom

Seneca wrote: “Associate with people who are likely to improve you.”

The same principle applies to what we allow into our minds.

The No Limits Challenge

Replace one unhealthy influence with something that strengthens your faith.

Prayer

Father, help me feed my mind and heart with things that honor You. Shape my thoughts so they reflect Your truth. Amen.
