Be Content

I remember talking with a man who had spent most of his life chasing the next thing.

The next promotion. The next house. The next achievement.

By every outward measure, he was successful. But one day he admitted something that surprised me.

“I don’t know if I know how to be content.”

That hit me.

Because if we’re honest, most of us have believed the lie that peace is always one step away. If I just had a little more money. A little more success. A little more recognition. Then I’d finally be satisfied.

But Solomon discovered something many people spend their whole lives learning. Contentment doesn’t come from having more. It comes from appreciating what God has already given.

Jesus owned very little by the world’s standards, yet He lacked nothing.

His joy wasn’t rooted in possessions. It was rooted in His relationship with the Father.

Seneca wrote: “It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”

Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
