October  •  Day 6

Owners Worry, Stewards Give Thanks

Day 279 of 365  •  FINANCES

Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.

Proverbs 27:23 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

One of the greatest mindset shifts I’ve experienced over the years is moving from ownership to stewardship. When I was younger, I thought in terms of possession. My house. My business. My money. My plans. My future.

But life has a way of humbling us. Because eventually you realize that very little actually belongs to you. Health is a gift. Relationships are gifts. Time is a gift. Resources are gifts. And gifts are meant to be stewarded. Not worshiped. Not hoarded. Stewarded.

I’ve noticed that owners tend to live with anxiety. They cling. They fear loss. They worry constantly. But stewards think differently. Stewards recognize that everything comes from God. And because it belongs to Him, they can hold it with open hands.

Perhaps that’s why gratitude and peace often travel together. Because grateful people understand they are managing blessings, not manufacturing them.

Jesus in Action

Jesus held everything with open hands. He trusted His Father completely. And because He trusted, He lived with remarkable peace.

Forged Wisdom

Epictetus wrote: “Never say about anything, ‘I have lost it,’ but rather, ‘I have returned it.’” Those words have challenged me deeply. Because open hands are peaceful hands.

The No Limits Challenge

Thank God today for the resources He’s entrusted to you. View them as gifts, not guarantees.

Prayer

Father, thank You for every blessing You’ve placed in my life. Help me hold them with gratitude and humility, remembering that everything ultimately belongs to You. Teach me to be a faithful steward. Amen.
