January  •  Day 19

When Offense Comes

Day 19 of 365  •  FAITH

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 19:11 (ESV)

Proverb Truth

If you’ve lived long enough, someone has disappointed you. Someone has misunderstood you. Someone has said something that hurt.

That’s just part of life.

The problem is, offenses have a way of moving into our hearts and making themselves at home if we allow them. And before long, what started as hurt becomes bitterness.

I’ve learned that not everything deserves a fight. Not every comment deserves a response. Not every offense deserves a permanent place in our hearts.

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is let it go. Not because what happened didn’t matter. But because peace matters more.

Jesus in Action

Jesus had every reason to hold onto offenses.

Yet from the cross He prayed, “Father, forgive them.”

Grace won. And because grace won, we have hope.

Forged Wisdom

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Choose not to be harmed—and you won’t feel harmed.”

Some burdens are too heavy to carry forever.

The No Limits Challenge

Ask God if there is someone you need to forgive. Then take the first step toward releasing that burden.

Prayer

Father, help me let go of offenses that keep me from experiencing Your peace. Teach me to extend the same grace You have shown me. Amen.
